Paul Grylls

Project Manager

After graduating from the University of Western Ontario with bachelors in chemical engineering and computer science, I worked at DCL International, a catalytic converter manufacturer, for 11 years where I became a Professional Engineer of Ontario.  I started as a Technical Services Engineer helping the sales team with sizing and product design.  As a Senior Project Engineer, I worked on getting products verified with the California Air Resources board.  I then moved to the startup sister company, GraniteFuel Engineering, to manage their gas conditioning system projects for 5 years.  In 2021, I joined the team at SNOLAB.

At SNOLAB, I helped rebuild PICO-40 as a project engineer, before taking on the role of project manager for PICO-500 in 2023.  I also worked on smaller in-house projects and joined the Oscura team.

A typical work day includes reaching out to team members in the PICO collaboration, either getting updates from them or sending them information they were searching for.  I also work with members of the SNOLAB team so we are working in sync with experiment personnel.  There are always different challenges to overcome, which means most work days are different from each other.

In my spare time, I enjoy kayaking in the summer and skiing in the winter.  Throughout the year, you can find me playing some board games.
