This week a group of eight undergraduate students participated in the Fall SNOLAB Student Talk Competition that takes place at the end of each term. Topics ranged from lab cleanliness to aspects of engineering at SNOLAB.
The Student Talk Competition is an opportunity for students to show off their hard work from the term and to practice giving presentations in a supportive, professional environment.
A special congratulations to the winners of this term’s competition who stood out for their well-delivered talks, excellent explanations, and thorough responses to audience questions.
First place: Margaret MacRitchie, talk titled “Cryogenic Distillation of Nitrogen and Argon”
Second place: Owen Mottershead, talk titled “Zeolite purification of Nitrogen”
Third place: Sara Craft-Hamilton, talk titled “Cleanliness and Compatibility”
Honourable mention: Yusuf Ahmed, talk titled “Progress on the characterization of the trapping efficiency of activated charcoal for radon gas assays”
