SNOLAB Executive Director search update

September 30, 2021 — Astrophysics News

The SNOLAB Institute Board of Directors would like to share an update on the search for the new Executive Director (ED) of SNOLAB. The services of Boyden, an executive search consultancy have been retained to support the search for the next Executive Director of SNOLAB. Boyden has extensive recruitment expertise in the research and academic communities in Canada and around the world.

The advertisement for the SNOLAB ED position was posted at the end of July and the deadline for applications was Friday, September 24th. Over the summer, the Board assembled a Search Committee that is composed of a Chair and five representatives from three of the member universities (Queen’s University, Carleton University, University of Alberta), two SNOLAB Institute Board members, and members from Fermilab, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, Duke University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Royal Holloway University, who bring expertise in both science and major science infrastructure. All members of this committee have participated in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigeneity training.

The Search Committee has received a very strong pool of applications and will begin developing list of candidates for initial interviewing. After these interviews, they will select a short list for more in-depth interviews. The final interviews will likely occur later in October, after which the Search Committee will make its recommendations for the Executive Director candidate(s) to the Board of Directors.

Please stay tuned for further updates.
