After a two-year hiatus, Laurentian University’s Doran Planetarium will re-open to the public this month with an exciting new show, says SNOLAB research scientist Dr. Christine Kraus.
“Cultural Parallax: Stories Under the Night Sky” will debut Tuesday, December 13th with shows starting at 6pm and 8pm.
Through storytelling, with a focus on Anishinaabe culture, visitors to the planetarium will be introduced to the wonders of the night sky. The show will be hosted by Dr. Kraus, and feature Ojibwe scholar and knowledge holder Will Morin and new planetarium director Dr. Hoi Cheu as they tell stories under the night sky in the planetarium.
“It’s a great pleasure to have the new planetarium director explain what we see in the night sky combined with the fascinating cultural knowledge from local artist, Will Morin,” said Dr. Kraus. “We are very excited to learn together as a community!”
Admission for this event is free and all are welcome to enjoy this one-hour show. Please register for one of the two shows on Eventbrite.
