Science and innovation on display at the Sudbury Regional Science Fair

SNOLAB Scientists were pleased to take part in judging projects at the 48thAnnual Sudbury Regional Science Fair. Students assembled their displays at Laurentian University on April 7thand 8th. In total 52 projects were presented by 69 participants from 18 schools. Projects showcased a wide variety of topics ranging from artificial intelligence, to elementary particles to children’s health. Projects were judged by over 50 science and engineering professionals from the local area.
Dr. Erica Caden, a Research Scientist at SNOLAB presented the SNOLAB Award to Ledy Sulston and Harrison Wilson of Valley View Public School for their project “Forces of Attraction” exploring electromagnetism. Each year, the SNOLAB Award goes to an outstanding project related to sub-atomic physics, astrophysics or astronomy that demonstrates understanding and contribution to the overall awareness of the project.
Congratulations to all of the students who took part in the 48th Sudbury Regional Science Fair and to the winners who are taking their projects to the Canada-Wide Science Fair to be held in Ottawa from May 12-19.
