March 11, 2013 — Events

The Honourable Bob Rae and his wife Arlene Perly Rae, made a stop at SNOLAB for an underground tour this past weekend as they embark on 10 day tour of Canada.

Mr. Rae is a Member of Parliament for Toronto Centre and interim leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. He was previously leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party and the 21st Premier of Ontario, from 1990 to 1995.
While Rae was Premier of Ontario he was an important part of the original SNO (Sudbury Neutrino Observatory) experiment receiving funding and has been a big supporter of the science being undertaken ever since. SNOLAB Director, Dr. Nigel Smith took the opportunity to showcase the expansion of space and the science programme that has taken place since Rae’s last visit in the early 90’s.
