July 17, 2017 — Events

As part of the TAUP (Topics in Astroparticle and Underground Physics) conference later this month, there is free public lecture entitled “Cosmic Chirps: Gravitational Waves and what they are telling us about the Universe” taking place on Wednesday, July 26 at Laurentian University.  Dr. Peter S. Shawhan of the University of Maryland will be talking about recent discoveries made by the LIGO detector and the future of gravitational wave science, including connections to underground neutrino detectors like those at SNOLAB. The lecture will be in the Fraser Auditorium; doors open at 6:30 and the lecture begins at 7:00 pm. There will be a reception following the lecture.
