Meagan had the opportunity to tour the underground lab and our staff had the opportunity to here of her latest adventure in the Antarctic. Meagan was a good sport in answering our countless questions and our staff was thrilled at the opportunity to interact with Meagan.

Staff and Scientists at SNOLAB are delighted with the funding announcement coming from the Ministry of Research and Innovation today. This funding will continue to support revolutionary research taking place two kilometers underground at Vale INCO’s Creighton Mine in Sudbury.

June 18, 2009: Government of Canada Invests in SNOLAB
The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and the Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry, today announced more than $665 million for new state-of-the-art infrastructure at 41 Canadian research institutions. Supporting 133 projects through the CFI’s Leading Edge Fund and New Initiatives Fund will help Canada’s best and brightest researchers conduct cutting-edge research with world-class equipment and facilities.

October 20, 2008: Listening to Dark Matter: New Clues from Lab Deep Underground
A team of researchers in Canada have made a bold stride in the struggle to detect dark matter. The PICASSO collaboration has documented the discovery of a significant difference between the acoustic signals induced by neutrons and alpha particles in a detector based on superheated liquids.
Apr 23 2008: Honda Canada Announces Student Exchange Between SNOLAB and Kamioka Laboratory in Japan
Honda Canada is sponsoring a graduate-student exchange program between SNOLAB and the underground Kamioka Laboratory in Japan. The first Japanese student has been working for three months at SNOLAB and the first Canadian is preparing to leave for Japan.
