HONDA FELLOWS

Updated 24 April 2008

We are very grateful to Honda Canada for their sponsorship of the Honda Fellow program. This program provides travel support for students or Post Docs from the Kamioka underground laboratory in Japan to work at SNOLAB for up to six months per year and for Canadian students or Post Docs associated with SNOLAB to work at Kamioka laboratory. The first student from Japan, Kota Ueshima spent three months at SNOLAB from January to April of 2008, working primarily on the DEAP-1 experiment. Another Japanese student is expected to come to SNOLAB this summer and a Canadian student, Olivier Simard will go to Kamioka later this summer for a three month term.

The Honda program was officially announced at a press conference at SNOLAB on April 24, 2008. The attached press release describes the program and the attached photo shows Kota Ueshima and Olivier Simard with Rina Khosla, Honda Canada Supervisor of Corporate Affairs and Todd Fowler, Honda Canada Manager of Corporate Affairs during an underground tour on that day.
