Postdoctoral Research Position at SNOLAB in Radio-Chemistry and Process Chemistry

posted August 25, 2011

Students!

SNOLAB is interested in receiving applications for Undergraduate Research Assistants from undergraduate students enrolled in a University or College program in physics, chemistry, engineering, and related technology programs. Typically work terms are four or eight months long and start the first week of January, May and September. Consideration of applications starts 14 weeks before the beginning of the work term and continues until the positions are filled.

SNOLAB is a large underground clean laboratory situated in Lively, Ontario on the 6800 foot level of the Vale Creighton Mine. The lab hosts several experiments at the forefront of astroparticle physics research. The successful candidates will work with scientists and engineers on staff in the design, development, operation and analysis of experiments. Typically students are given a particular research topic for their term which they carry out in addition to other tasks to support the laboratory. Shift work may be required.

SNOLAB is approximately 25km from Sudbury, Ontario and is approximately 6km from Lively. Access to a car significantly enhances the student experience at SNOLAB.

Salary is based on the year of study in your program at the start of your work term. These positions are subject to the availability of funding. Interested applicants should send a resume and cover letter along with three references to Ms. Shari Moss, Human Resources Officer. Please send these to jobs@snolab.ca and indicate "Student work term" with the dates of proposed work in the subject line.

SNOLAB is committed to employment equity and welcomes applications from all qualified women and men, including visible minorities, aboriginal people, persons with disabilities, and persons of a diversity of sexual orientation.
