About Us

SNOLAB is a unique world-class international facility for deep underground scientific research. Located 2km underground in the Vale Creighton mine, near Sudbury, Ontario, SNOLAB hosts a suite of surface facilities and laboratories including a 5000m2 clean room underground. The science programme at SNOLAB is primarily focused on subatomic and astroparticle physics, specifically the search for dark matter and neutrino studies.

The Position

Working in conjunction with the Integration Manager, the Integration Supervisor will be primarily responsible for the mechanical construction and maintenance activities for the Integration group. The position will plan and direct activities for successful, timely completion of project related tasks to meet a wide range of infrastructure and experiment related needs.

To accomplish this, the position will be responsible for:

Directing, coaching, and training employees as well as planning, monitoring and scheduling work.

Sourcing of necessary material components, qualified third party service contractors and generation of purchase requisitions.

Providing immediate response to operation maintenance concerns to ensure minimal interruptions in operations infrastructure.

Providing expertise in mechanical installation to internal and experiment collaborators.

Establishing and replenishing a minimum construction consumables inventory and purchasing adequate quantities of required project materials in advance of project needs.

Ensuring surface and underground mobile lift equipment, cranes, hoists, equipment, rigging gear, personal protective equipment have been inspected and maintained with referencing records as needed.

Criteria

Education:

A post-secondary education in a relevant mechanical field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in fabrication, rigging and installation.

Licensed Millwright (433a) and/or licensed General Machinist (429A) is considered an asset.

Experience:

Significant experience working in a mechanical installation crew in an industrial or construction environment.

Experience working with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, with emphasis on Regulations 851 and 854.

Experience delegating, communicating, persuading, and explaining job methodology.

Experience analyzing and resolving problems.

Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer-generated reports.

Experience sourcing materials, qualified third party service contractors and the generation of purchase requisitions is considered an asset.

Salary Range

Salary will be determined by qualifications and experience and includes an attractive benefits package.  To meet operational needs, shift work may be required.
