SNO+Electronics Technician 



About Us

SNOLAB is a unique world-class international facility for deep underground scientific research. Located 2km underground in the Vale Creighton mine, near Sudbury, Ontario, SNOLAB hosts a suite of surface facilities and laboratories including a 5000m2 clean room underground. The science programme at SNOLAB is primarily focussed on subatomic and astroparticle physics, specifically the search for dark matter and neutrino studies.

The Position

As an experienced certified electrician, take initiative and provide technical expertise in the design, fabrication, construction, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical installations and equipment following appropriate codes and regulations.



Candidates should hold a current Ontario Certification 309A, 442A or equivalent.


Experience reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications.

Experience installing, examining, replacing or repairing; electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.

Experience testing electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.

Experience maintaining, repairing, testing and installing electrical motors, generators, PLCs, VFDs and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.

Experience sourcing and procuring electrical supplies and equipment.

Experience conducting preventive maintenance programs and keeping maintenance records is an asset.

Experience creating and modifying electrical schematics in AutoCad is and asset.

Experience installing fire alarm cabling and device bases as well as Ethernet cabling installation and termination is an asset.

Salary Range

Salary will be determined by qualifications and experience and includes an attractive benefits package.  This position is covered by the Collective Agreement between the SNOLAB Institute and the United Steelworkers Local 2020. To meet operational needs, shift work may be required.
